The Decade of Desolation

So many years of science,

So many years of medicine,

So many years of planning ahead,

And yet another pandemic..

We claim to be the smartest,

We claim to be the creators,

We claim to be the Messiah of living beings,

And yet we're panic-stricken by fear..

We excel in nature's degradation,

The pioneers of the art of warfare,

So consumed in our love for hate and destruction

That we make more bullets than bread each year..

It is said we started monkeys,

And years of evolution made us what we are,

Yet, the only people working for us,

The doctors- aren't getting any help so far..

Now our streets run empty,

We live scared and in isolation,

Our crops rot unharvested in the fields,

As we keep shifting blame to find some consolation..

Some call it the Chinese virus,

While some beat up a poor Manipuri,

Most just want to peddle their propaganda,

Does the State even know how to help anybody??

When this all will be over,

And I hope that day does arrive,

The world will be a very different place,

People loving less and doing more just to survive!!
